Short term : complete my training and become a registered clinical scientist. From then becoming more experienced, I’d like to get involved in training others and keep doing outreach work. I could become a principal clinical scientist and be in charge of other clinical scientists, but that would require a lot more experience on my part and an additional 5 years of training at doctoral level, so I’m not even thinking about that yet. I hope that I’m involved with a project that makes the genetics service better for patients.

I also want to buy a house with my boyfriend – a biggish one that we could stay in for a long time. I want to have a dog, but I need to make sure I have a house and garden that is suitable, and can arrange for it to be looked after while I’m at work. I would like to travel, perhaps not to every country but maybe I could try for every continent.

I’m probably reaching the end of my working life, so I’m looking forward to what comes next.
I’d still like to keep my scientific curiosity alive, and maybe go into schools and help with science/fun clubs.
Other than that, travel, maybe get another dog, read more, learn to sail and still try and do things that are exciting and challenging.
I’d like to help my grandkids develop a scientific curiosity and keep doing experiments at home with them.

I have always loved watching athletics and in recent years, I have helped out as a field judge at regional athletics events. If I had the time, I would love to qualify as an international field judge so that I could help out at major events such as the Olympics. It would be amazing to be the person chasing after that world record javelin throw or setting the high jump bar at a record height (over 8 feet – wow). Also, just to continue having a happy and healthy life with my family.
